Castel Fragsburg

Insider’s Knowledge

Castel Fragsburg belongs to a particular category of hotels where the view is often the first talking topic; its mountain views are nothing short of epic. To drill down on what guests can expect when staying at this exhilarating retreat, we chatted with Gertrud Grassl, who couldn't disguise her fascination with this unique property and its surroundings.

  • I would start by mentioning our Michelin-starred Gourmet Restaurant Prezioso, where we compose a symphony of delicious delicacies and atmospheric flair on the gourmet loge on the wooden terrace. High above the treetops, here you have an impressive view of the South Tyrolean mountain peaks and the spa town of Merano.

In our medieval castle nearby, exclusively accessible only by hotel guests, you immediately feel you have stepped back in time. Surrounded by this historic ambiance, you look into the distance over the Adige valley, Merano's spa town, and the Texel Group's mountain peaks. The swing in the middle of the castle park allows our daring guests to almost fly above the valley and enjoy an incomparable sense of freedom.

In the Alchemical Healing Spa, the first of its kind in the world, our guests are pampered with unique treatments while they enjoy the view over the valley in the light-flooded treatment rooms. Especially recommended is an individual massage in our Sanctuarium treehouse. High above the valley, guests enjoy unique, privileged treatments.

  • Castel Fragsburg, a Relais & Châteaux affiliated property, is situated on a private hill with only 20 unique suites. A historic hunting lodge from the 17th century captivates with stylish and individual suites, where each suite has its charm and character.

    Adlerhorst Suite 305

Our Adlerhorst Suite (eagle's nest suite) with the number 305 is a little romantic nest for nonconformists who prefer the unusual over the pragmatic. The tower suite, far away from everything, will inspire the bohemians among our guests to get creative, daydream and lose themselves in the views from the 18 m² rooftop terrace. Like the eagles in their nest, you can feel the freedom here. The circular staircase will take guests from the living room to the open bedroom. For lovers, the free-standing bathtub will become their happy place.

    Suite Royale 304

The Suite Royale number 304, with its stylish interior and historical character, invites guests to linger on the panoramic terrace with a good glass of wine or a captivating book. Above, you can enjoy the view over the Adige Valley and the typical and traditional South Tyrolean villages. Treat yourself to a stay fit for a king or queen in this well-lit suite with high ceilings decorated with exquisite materials and wallpaper, antique furniture, and a genuine flair for a noble atmosphere.

    Suite Deluxe 216

With spectacular views of the enchanted castle garden and the beguiling Texel Group, this Suite Deluxe is the perfect place to spend warm summer evenings by candlelight, listening to the nightingales sing on one of the two balconies. Traditional and characterized by an alpine hunting flair, this suite is a carefully composed, unique piece.

  • Perhaps the factor that has the most significant influence on how our guests experience our sublime vistas is the weather. For instance, in cloudy, rainy weather, one feels above the clouds when the mists pass down in the valley.

As spring arrives after a cold winter, everything shines in rich green; this is the ideal time to experience how nature awakens to new life while some mountain peaks remain covered with snow.

During summertime, guests enjoy the light breeze 750 meters above sea level while contemplating seeing the glittering summits cross of the South Tyrolean peaks, up to 3000 meters high. In the evening, guests love to linger on the terrace and enjoy a Michelin-starred dinner while watching the sunset.

Autumn captivates with its splendor of colors. The valley glows in different shades, from wine red to ochre brown and sunny yellow. The air is clear, and the distant view is unique.

  • “Privileged.”

  • From our perspective, luxury stands for all those beautiful things you cannot put a price tag on. Having a warm-hearted team ready to assist our beloved guests and turn their expectations into reality ranks high on our priority list.
