Dreaming of Barcelona in grand style? Then you should definitely stay at Mandarin Oriental Barcelona as it is one of the best definitions of Catalan luxury (think this sounds odd for a hotel called Mandarin Oriental? Not quite; in fact, it works as a bonus to the latter). The dream starts at the hotel’s location, Passeig de Gracia, one of the chic avenues in town, home of beautiful people and high fashion brands. It continues inside the premises where the minimalist, praiseworthy decoration wraps any holiday in comfort and style. As your dream-stay continues, you may go to the top floor, where you will discover some of the city’s great views at the rooftop pool: to one side the Tibidabo, to the other Casa Batlló, and from there to the sea and beyond… or let yourself be spoiled at the marvelous spa. At the end of the day, the 2 Michelin-starred Moments restaurant will offer you some of the best Catalan flavors by the magical touch of chef Carme Ruscallada. Complete your dream with Gaudi’s fairy façades next door (Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are minutes away) and… now open your eyes and believe it all becomes true at Mandarin Oriental Barcelona.

Looking for something different? Give Ohla Barcelona hotel a go, one of the best hotels in Barcelona for all of those looking for a memorable stay in Catalonia’s most emblematic city. At the Ohla, surprises start at the buildings’s facade: the renovation of this neoclassical palace was handed by the artist and sculptor Frederic Amat (expect to be ‘watched’ by the surreal ceramic ‘eyes’ that adorn the exterior). But there is more to be found: the minimalist, yet very comfortable, interiors may take you to a well deserved rest (we’re especially fond of room 603: expect enormous floor-to-ceiling windows and a view over the Palau de la Musica from the shower), to an amazing meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant Saüc or… to an unbelievable swimming experience. Ohla hotel’s pool combines elegance with some of Barcelona most stunning views, from Tibidabo to La Seu (Barcelona’s Cathedral). But we’re not over yet: the hotel is located at the historic centre, very close to some of the Catalan’s most cherished landmarks. Just to mention a few, the glorious Palau de la Música is across the street, the unmissable Picasso Museum less than 10 minutes away (walking distance); and Els Quatre Gats (the 1897 restaurant where Picasso and other artists used to show their work) just around the corner. Enough said, right?

Are you a culture hound? An indefatigable walker? A shopping lover? A curious gourmet? Or a great, nice blend of the four? Whatever the case, choose the Grand Hotel Central on your next trip to Barcelona. Placed in a sumptuous building of the 1920’s at the heart ofVia Laietana, it is the best hotel to be surrounded by history and art, all walking distance from the main entrance. Here are a few hints: Museo Picasso is 5 minutes away, Barcelona Cathedral and San Jaume I, even less. Las Ramblas are also in the neighbourhood for a great shopping experience, and El Born is the spot for a perfect end of the day: for sure you’ll find your kind of bar ou restaurant amongst all the options. Now, if you visit Barcelona in summer, the hotel’s rooftop infinite pool is a marvelous place to start your day or…to finish it. You simply have to decide whether you prefer to sense the view of a city at your feet at the bright morning lights, or feel it at dawn, when the last rays of the sun tinge the sky to orange, reddish tones, surrendering it to your gaze.

A lofty-style appeal cleverly mixed with history and art: benvingut at Hotel The Serras, as the Catalans would greet you. It is one of the newest hotels in Barcelona but has already been referred to as one of the fanciest. Located at the Gothic Quarter’s end and facing the new luxury Port Vell, Hotel The Serras is set in an historical building where Pablo Picasso started his career back in 1896. All stylish rooms feature a private balcony with exclusive views to Port Vell or Mercé Street at the Gothic Quarter. And going further up, the sea views are impressive while having a drink at the rooftop loungeor after a swim in the infinity pool. If possible, make your reservations for a Summer stay and enjoy all the wellness from the Mediterranean Sea or all the city’s culture just a few steps away.

For once in our lives we should allow ourselves the feeling of being a prince or a princess from the early 20th Century. To do so, one does not need to time travel: right in the heart of Barcelona, at the elegant Paseo de Gracia, lies Casa Fuster. This iconic building is a monument in itself, built in 1908 by the Modernist architect, Lluis Domènech i Muntaner, whose work, including the hotel, is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The exterior is majestic; the interiors are filled with all the details that reminisce the true classic opulence from the past. And then there are the small and grand balconies, as well as the terrace at the rooftop… the privilege of such remarkable views is sublime, like a history timeline that flies you from La Sagrada Familia (another UNESCO designated site) to the contemporary Torre Agbar, or as a peaceful glide across the verdant trees at Passeig de Gracia.

The name is Majestic but we could also call it Majestically Comfortable. The Majestic Hotel & SPA Barcelona G.L is a luxury hotel in the classical, full sense of the word. Housed in a beautiful neoclassical building, it surrounds every guest in an ambiance of light, warm colors. Rooms are splendid in size, every single piece of furniture an ode to serenity. Together with staff, all was set to offer you the most pleasant stay. You may want to relax at the rooftop while enjoying the wide open views (it will be easy to discover La Sagrada Familia) or, after a balmy rest, feel ready to enjoy the vibe of the town. The Majestic Hotel is located in a premier shopping area (precisely at Passeig de Gracia, 6 minutes away from Avenida Diagonal), and within walking distance of most tourist sites (a stone’s throw from Casa Batlló and La Pedrera). It is not in the middle of all the bustle, but close enough for profuse enjoyment.

Ahoy! Dear ladies and gentlemen, lovers of the sea, forever sailors, intrepid seekers of the bright and the new, this is the hotel you will never forget. The W Barcelona is a daring sail shaped building that shines all year long, next to Barceloneta Beach. To say that the views are impressive is short: they’re absolutely amazing, either from the rooms or from the infinite pool. Let us give you a few more details: the W Hotel’s rooms are avant-garde and big enough as to let the views in and grant you as much enjoyment as possible. The infinite pool (in fact there are two pools, but we cannot resist to mention this one) surrounds you with breathtaking panoramas and the metaphoric chance of a deep swim that ends up in the warm, Mediterranean sea… If your agenda allows it, try to plan your trip during Summer where temperatures may rise to 29ºC, and you will be able to enjoy Barcelona and the hotel at their best. And let us give you the final challenge: dive into WAVE or BRAVO 24, the two W’s stylish restaurants run by a Michelin starred chef.

Barcelona has the energy of a cosmopolitan city, the art and culture of a Spanish province that gave birth and raised some of the most original and audacious painters, designers and architects, a cuisine renowned allover the world, and a splendid beach that widens all sights to the beautiful Mediterranean sea. It’s not easy to find such a combination of elements in the very same place. That’s why there is only one Barcelona; that is also why Hotel Arts is one of its best hotels. At Hotel Arts you can revel in those, entirely. You’ll be surrounded by a luxurious decoration that really pays a homage to ‘God is in the detail’. You are free to choose between Enoteca, the awarded 2 Michelin stars’ restaurant, or Arola, run by one of the most creative chefs in the world, Sergi Arola. The beach is right in front of the hotel, Frank Gehry’s golden fish (Peix, as it’s called) greeting you from the heights. But you’ll be even higher: Hotel Arts is Barcelona’s tallest building (it rises 154 meters from the ground). Can you imagine what your eyes are able to reach? Let us tell you: the entire city, 360º. Absolutely breathtaking.

One of the most remarkable Spain’s signatures are the Plazas and, especially, the Plaza Real (the central square). You may be down south enjoying the sun, you can be in a romantic break somewhere in the capital, or be visiting the north; the provinces will offer you different sounds, tastes and ambiances but the thing you’ll find everywhere, the genuine Spanish autograph, is the central plaza, traditionally a place of reunion and sharing. If you enjoy that and you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, then the best place to stay at is Hotel D.O. Plaça Reial G.L., a gastronomic boutique hotel with only 18 luxury rooms, most of them with charming views of Plaza Real. There is more at sight, though: El Terrat D’el Do, the restaurant at the rooftop terrace, will surprise you with the views of gothic monuments or the fantasy of Gaudi’s Palau Güel. Hotel D.O. Playa Reial G.L. is a gastronomic experience in itself but if you visit Barcelona and you enjoy the pleasures of food, there is something you cannot miss, more so when you’ll have it around the corner: it is called La Boqueria and it’s one of the oldest food markets in town, the place where all the best chefs go to buy their products, and a beautiful place, remarkably preserved, where you can enjoy a fresh meal. Sounds tasty? Well, you have to go there to truly sense the flavour.

If you enjoy modern architecture and strict, clean decorative styles, Sir Victor Hotel (formerly known as Hotel Omm) is certainly a perfect hotel for you. Located at the elegant Passeig de Gracia, and neighboring Gaudi’s La Pedrera and Avenida Diagonal, it is a recognized design landmark in town. It all starts outside where the building's state-of-the-art lines contrast evidently with the modernist or neoclassical façades around. Then, if you enter Sir Victor Hotel you will be facing an uncommon space that looks more like an immense, comfortable living room, but which actually is the hotel’s lobby. The contemporary design follows you to the room and climaxes at the wooden roof-terrace and pool that greet you with superb Barcelona vistas. But there is more to be indulged with: the one-starred Michelin, easy going Moo restaurant that serves the best of Catalan cuisine. Be ready to surrender hopelessly to it.

Once upon a time this was a Palace. Then the palace hosted a jewelry museum with pieces from one of the Catalan’s bourgeoisie most cherished jewelers, Françesc Masriera. And now, this remarkable building is Hotel Bagués, one of the top luxurious hotels in Barcelona. All rooms are decorated in deep colors, with opulent ebony furniture and minutiae in golden leaf. In fact they are small individual museums: each room displays a unique item of jewelry from the Masriera Museum. A true gem located by Las Ramblas, Hotel Bagués displays exceptional Barcelona views from the rooftop terrace. And down to earth, other city jewels are at reach: the unmissable Mercado de La Boqueria is a few steps ahead, Gran Teatro Liceu and La Seu, merely 300 meters away. Hotel Bagués: one of the top hotels in Barcelona. We dare to describe it as the best place to stay to all those like you who fancy particularly elegant, unusual places.

Let us guess what a top, luxury hotel sounds to you: you love to feel as if it were your own house. Not any kind of house, of course; preferably combining contemporary styles with an old, charming structure. The other important thing is you want not to be disturbed: in your view, the best hotels offer assistance discreetly, only when needed. And a final, crucial, note: evidently, it has to be located in a central area… This is really your place, isn’t it? If the answer is yes, El Palauet is the best hotel for you in Barcelona. Check this: El Palauet lies in a 1906 art nouveau building with lofty ceilings, stained glass windows, opulent frescoes and a rooftop spa. There are no hotel rooms, only six two bedroom suites, beautifully furbished in white, modern design (we strongly recommend the Tibidabo and Passeig de Gracia suites: the views to both places are wonderful and the whole atmosphere is gorgeous!). There’s a personal assistant for each apartment who will only show up when necessary (actually they provide extremely valuable tips). And a final note concerning El Palauet’s location: it faces Passeig de Gracia, one of the fanciest avenues in town. If you stroll down towards the sea, you will meet Avenida Diagonal just a few steps away, and in less than 10 minutes you will stumble upon two of the most amazing landmarks in Barcelona: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. As perfect as this.

Looking for a place to stay in Barcelona in which the entire city and its premises surrender at your feet? We’ve got the right hotel for you. The name is Gran Hotel La Florida G.L Monumento and it sits on Tibidabo Hill. If you have never been to Barcelona we will tell you what this means: it means you cannot escape the magnificent views, no matter where you are in the property. At this very comfortable hotel, the entire city will be at sight from the Tibidabo mountains to the Mediterranean sea (ask for a room with a private balcony for extra satisfaction). And if you’re travelling with your kids, take them to Tibidabo theme park next door, they will love it. Or ask the hotel for one of their free direct shuttles to Barcelona and marvel your children with one of the most original Spanish cities.

The Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel lies within the World Trade Center building. It is a design luxury hotel that overlooks Barcelona’s port, presenting unforgettable views of the harbor, the Mediterranean sea, and fully displaying the city before your eyes. The wide windows depict Barcelona in its various colors, from the Mirador where the statue of Colon (Columbus) decidedly points to the sea to the state-of-the-art Torre Agbar, crossing the city until the Tibidabo mountains. All rooms are styled in a modern, very pleasant style so to ensure the best restful experience. Try to book your stay during late Spring or Summer so to enjoy the gorgeous rooftop pool and terrace.

The warm sea breeze delicately combines with the scents of the greenery from the mountain, lighting up your senses. The splendid view of the marine together with the serene murmur of the Mediterranean waters, transport you to a complete, peaceful experience. Miramar means ‘look at the sea’ in Spanish. This is exactly what you can indulge on if you choose to stay at Hotel Miramar, one of the best hotels in Barcelona. The beautiful building, a former palace, is set on Montjuïc Mountain’s gardens, thus offering some of the best sights in town from most of the rooms. This serene atmosphere is the perfect way to begin a day in Barcelona, but also a great welcome after a full day around town. Try not to miss The Joan Miró Foundation or Palau Güell, both within a 20 minute walk from Hotel Miramar.

As the car rolls down, the avenues become streets, the streets get narrower, and turn into alleys. Finally, the car stops and you find yourself in a Gothic Quarter’s secluded lane. You’re facing exceptional Roman Walls’ remains. Is it possible?? Yes, it is, you’ve reached Mercer Hotel Barcelona. What this means is you’ve chosen the privilege of a stay in the oldest part of Barcelona, the area were Augustus established a new colony. Mercer Hotel Barcelona is nestled in between old Roman Walls. Ancient remnants are everywhere, from the lobby to your room, harmoniously perpetuated and respected by minimal interiors. Our advice? Add a bonus to this very special experience: all rooms are exceptional but our favorites are definitely room 108 and room 106. The first (actually a junior suite) has an original wall dating back to the 2nd century, along with a large, pretty terrace. The second comes with a small balcony that overlooks the orchard’s courtyard. Let us now end with a description of the top floor’s pool: surrounded by loungers and Barcelona’s rooftops, it offers the great sensation of being cosily cocooned, as if this was your own house, your own pool. Doesn't it sound amazing?

Alma means soul in Spanish and no other name could better describe this elegant hotel placed at Passeig de Gracia, one of the fanciest avenues in Barcelona. Nested in a charming building from the forties, it is a coup de foudre for all design hunters. The sexy stairway, together with the minimalist interiors all in wood, grey and light tones, is an irresistible combination for the utmost aesthetes. All rooms with no exception are a gift to the senses, but we do recommend you to ask for those where you can enjoy the view of La Pedrera,s fairy rooftops directly from your window. In fact this awesome landmark is just next door, and so does Casa Batlló. But there is more to indulge yourself on at Alma Barcelona GL: the spa, with its serene atmosphere and cutting edge treatments, is the perfect end of the day sensory experience; and the sophisticated rooftop bar displays wonderful views of the city from La Pedrera to the Mediterranean Sea, favoring all kinds of romantic moments. Ladies and gentlemen, this is soul.

Cotton House Hotel, Autograph Collection: my goodness, what an amazing hotel. It can be very easy to imagine yourself somewhere in the Mississipi, India or Egypt, due to the overwhelming colonial atmosphere. And you’ll be considerably right. The Cotton House Hotel was born, completely refurbished, at the beginning of 2015, in the site of the formerly headquarters of the Cotton Textile Foundation, an emblematic neoclassical 19th-century building, itself an icon in the city of Barcelona. The two key words for the refurbishment project were preserve and restore all original elements: the imposing marble stairs and the 1957 famous spiral staircase, or the delicate parquet and boiserie that embellishes ceilings, floors and walls in some of the rooms. The rich decoration is inspired in all cotton codes, such as the combination the plant’s own colors (white, black and sepia) and is revealed in the rooms’ names that evoque distant travels, colonial mood: would you rather stay in Panama, Madras, Damask or Vichy room? The icing on the cake is that you are in Barcelona. Enjoy all the ambiance fully at the rooftop pool: you will still feel as if you had been transported into the most elegant ages of all, while simultaneously enjoying the modern sights of Barcelona, Sagrada Familia blinking a sweet eye on you.
