Alfred Nobel instituted the international peace prize, here. Sissi, the Empress, chose this place for an entire summer. Richard Wagner premiered the first act of "Die Walküre", accompanied on the piano by Franz Liszt. Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Henry Moore and Fernando Botero cherished it, as well as Plácido Domingo or Elton John. The Baur au Lac is a grandiose 5 starred hotel in Zurich, one that deserves all compliments. Opened in 1844, the Baur au Lac was rapidly the talk of the town; the hotel's elegant architecture - large villa styled - and its spectacular location facing the Alps, right beside Lake Zurich, surrendered all to its charm. For years it was the favored residence of guests who travelled incognito. But the secret for nearly 2 centuries of consistent success is the flawless service and constant preservation. If you ever dreamed an aristocratic kind of visit to Zurich, the Baur au Lac is definitely the place. The spacious interiors are classy, classical and extraordinarily comfortable. And the views... my God!, really hard to describe, especially when you've seen the mountains gracefully winding before your eyes or grasped a complete vision of Lake Zurich's waters. Make your best in order to book a higher floor room; only then you will fully understand the meaning of the expression 'a room with a view'. The Baur au Lac is walking distance from some of the historical landmarks (Fraumunster, Stadstadt or Peter's Church, for example) or the best restaurants in town. Do not miss the Michelin-starred Restaurant Pavillion, though. Funny enough it lies at the very Baur au Lac. Quite frankly, what else could you expect from your upcoming Zurich stay?
Experience the feeling of an eagle standing on its nest, glancing at a lake, the city, the mountains and the forest. Smile at a beautiful synthesis of old an new architecture. Allow yourself to become ecstatic at the sight of more than 100 works of art. The Dolder Grand, one of the most incredible hotels in Zurich, welcomes you with all these included. Located above Zurich, The Dolder Grand offers breathtaking 360º bird's eye views that will travel you from the forest to Lake Zurich, the city and the Alps. Enjoy them at one of the spacious rooms or while you swim at the beautiful Spa's pool. This luxurious hotel went through a profound renovation between 2004 and 2008. The London-based company Foster+Partners managed to blend an 1899 historical building with new, modern structures. This fusion resulted in a 'compound' which grace is widely acknowledged. However, there is yet another 'detail' that contributes to its uniqueness. Have you ever stayed in a hotel that owns probably one of the best world's art collections? Well, now you can: Salvador Dalí, Henri Moore, Fernando Botero, Joan MIró, Zaha Hadid, Damien Hirst, Keith Haring, Takashi Murakami, among many others, are all part of the impressive exhibit that stands permanently at the hotel. Oh, we forgot to mention Andy Warhol but we promise you'll notice it upon arrival: his 11 meters of 'Big Retrospective Painting' will greet you, right above the reception. Any little flaw at The Dolder Grand? Ok, it's not at Zurich's centre, but obviously they thought about it: the hotel's shuttle will take you there at anytime. Rest your case now, we imagine your booking is on its way.

Amongst all hotels in Zurich, the Atlantis by Giardino is a jewel in all terms. Designed by architects Hans and Annemarie Hubacher and Peter Issler in the late 1960's, this hotel is one of Switzerland's most relevant post-war modernist buildings. Picture this: giant concrete blocks emerge from the woods, tamed into a concave shape that surrenders to the sun, fully absorbing its warmth and light throughout the day. How does this sound? Yes, a contrast, in fact one of the smartest juxtapositions of nature and urban codes. Atlantis by Giardino is set at the foot of Zurich's Uetliberg mountain. The feeling is utmost modern but also serene, especially when you enjoy the views of mountain forests while swimming at the ravishing 25 meter pool, or when you come back to your room. There, once again, the clever balance of state-of-the art details (like the amazing Molteni's custom-made furnishings or the bank safety deposit boxes ingeniously metamorphosed into a wall) with overwhelming sights either of nature or incredibly panoramic, overlooking the city, up to the other mountains. We said it before: this design hotel in Zurich is a gem. Steve McQueen, Mohammed Ali, and Freddy Mercury were a few of those who cherished it. And it was also two-starred by Michelin standards because of its two remarkable restaurants, Ecco and Hide & Seek. We could write endlessly about this hotel but we dare to finish with a quote from a guest that says it all: 'Atlantis by Giardino is probably the best hotel in Zurich and maybe one of the most beautiful in Switzerland'.
9 centuries ago, there were 9 adjacent houses which homed gentry, merchants, artisans and heads of local guilds. Some hundreds of years later Tilla Theus, a Swiss architect, embraced the challenge to transform them into a luxury modern hotel. More than 1000 conservation builders and designers worked together; in 1995, a superb fusion of the 9 properties was achieved: Widder Hotel was born. It's quite easy to consider this hotel as one of the best in Zurich: opulence is ingrained in its grounds, be it in its medieval pure breed (expect genuine oak beams, antique tiled stoves, delicate frescoes and charming stuccoes) or in the splendid marriage of the latter with foolproof contemporaneity (original objects and works from Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Adolf Loos, and Andy Warhol). Along with this, the sights of Zurich are anything but exceptional: simply choose which part of the town you wish to see Grossmunster, Fraumunster, the Mountains, Lake Zurich? , and it will be granted. However, if you want to have them all, do not hesitate and book the jawdropping 164 m2 Penthouse: the private rooftop terrace will quench your thirst for 360o city's panoramas. Situated in Old Town, the Widder Hotel is undoubtedly one of the best if you want to be able to walk to the most renowned historical landmarks: the Grosmunster, the Fraumunster, the Stadthaus, as well as Peter's Church (just to mention a few) are all less than 5 minutes away. Widder Hotel. Possibly one of the most remarkable experiences you may have while visiting Zurich.

If you like visiting cities during Summer and Zurich is on your wish list, don't think twice: the city is marvelous. This is the season where Zurich pulsates as a water town. Oh yes. Certainly you were thinking of Venice or Bruges but let us tell you: Zurich deserves your attention and your visit. Life literally blossoms on the promenades along Lake Zurich and Zurich's rivers, all inhabitants, no exception, rejoicing by or in the waters. As appealing as it may sound, we will help you to enrich the experience: stay in one of the best hotels in town, the Eden au Lac. This 5 starred hotel is nested in a charming building from the 1900's that rests lazily by the lake, in the classy Utoquai area. Utoquai, the wooden 'swimming palace' as they call it, has granted its guests the opportunity to have a refreshing swim in Lake Zurich for more than 120 years. Can you imagine how delightful it can be to end a day like this? Also, the Eden au Lac is very close to the Opera House (204 meters far) and other major landmarks are 10 minutes away (Grossmunster an Fraumunster). Zurich offers plenty of things to do: from lovely garden terraces and open-air bars to diverse music festivals, water sports and exhibits, there is no chance to be bored. And what about the hotel? A great bit of an old days flair, abundant (yet discreet) ingredients of nowadays efficiency, and astonishing panoramas of the city, the mountains and the lake at the rooftop terrace. Eden au Lac: yes, a stay at a paradise by the lake.

Now, if you're looking for a hotel in Zurich and you're fond of newborn areas where modern architecture mingles with corporate, you should consider the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel for your stay. The Limmat River is one of the beautiful rivers that flows from Lake Zurich, running northwards at first, and then gradually turning to the west. It is a true privilege to stand aside it and be able to walk around its banks in a winter morning, or swim along the shores during the lovely Swiss summers. More so when you consider that Zurich's Old Town stretches on both sides of it. Well, if this is the kind of atmosphere you're looking for on your next visit to Zurich, then stay at the Zurich Marriott Hotel. A long, long time ago, a pair of rare black storks landed on the roof of a wonderful building in the pleasant Zurich's Weinplatz. The storks fell in love with the place and thus decided to nest on it. This is the legend that explains the name of one of the most romantic hotels in Zurich, the Hotel Storchen. It's easy to understand why Hotel Storchen has been considered a Zurich's treasure for more than 650 years. The hard thing is to summarize the 'whys' and the 'hows'. The location is nothing but perfect: the hotel is at Zurich's center, right in the middle of Old Town, facing (we do mean facing) the great Grossmunster, and close to everything you wish to visit (as an example the Fraumunster is steps away). The interiors are absolutely charming in their old-days allure and coziness. The sights, Good Lord, they're lovely and serene as they show you the Limmat river and some of the best landmarks in Old Town (meanwhile, the bells sing throughout the day...). One last thing: Hotel Storchen stands by the river and is the only one with its own private pier. Gosh, utmost romantic, that's what it is.

Imagine an old brewery metamorphosed into a chic boutique hotel in Zurich. So boutique that breakfast is served in a private library with 33.000 books. So exquisite as to allow the interiors to blend dark wood with delicate, vintage objects. So stylish that the rooms can be minimal and yet stunning because of their high ceilings and beautiful space. So remarkable due to a grandiose rooftop pool that offers year round warm waters' pleasures combined with bird's eye 360º panoramic vistas. Hard to conceive but in our own imagination? Not at all, in fact the B2 Boutique Hotel + SPA. The B2 Boutique Hotel + SPA is one of the best hotels in Zurich, and a different Zurich experience, we dare to say. It has a beautiful position in Zurich, not too far from the centre but far enough to be able to relax a bit. And the spectacular rooftop will allow you to swim overwhelming views at all seasons, enjoying the city from Old Town to Lake Zurich till you lose your breath at the sight of the mountains.Who cares about distance when you can have the entire Zurich at your feet?

The Small Luxury Hotel Ambassador a l'Opera is located in the chic Zurich's Seefeld district, and is part of the former 1898 neo-baroque Uto Castle. Zurich Opera is across the street and some of Old Town's best landmarks are less than 10 minutes away, walking distance (think of Grossmunster and Fraumunster, amongst others). However, if you look for other things to do in Zurich, the exclusive Bahnhofstrasse shopping street is steps away as well as the gorgeous lake Zurich. Forget the watches, forget the chocolates, forget the Banks. This is a different Switzerland, and a side of Zurich pretty much diverse from the tourist tours. The last decades brought a different vibe to Zurich West, formerly an industrial area. This hard-to-pronouce district of Gwerberschule - Escher Wyss is these days a must, especially for all those who fancy design shops, state-of-the art restaurants and bars. If you are one of this kind choose the 25Hours Hotel Zurich West and you will feel like a duck takes to water. Most certainly one of the best hotels in Zurich West, the 25Hours Hotel Zurich West is an explosion of color, diversity and authenticity, a clever mix of design, art interventions and the sense of humor that is definitely the 25Hours' trademark. In the midst of all this, the views you can enjoy from the rooms and terraces are great, taking you to Zurich in its full extension, mountains included. What about the center, the historical landmarks? They're all at easy reach by tram. As are the... chocolates, the watches and the Banks, too.
In the last couple of decades the western part of Zurich was rethought, renewed, and a new neighborhood was born. The Gwerberschule - Escher Wyss district is nowadays a vibrant Zurich area, where trendy shops, bars, restaurants and shops mingle with business, the remains and renewals of an industrial area. Young cosmopolitan citizens gather here, now; and one of their most cherished places is Sheraton Zurich Hotel. It is quite easy to notice this hotel: the tall, modern building, with its distinctive blue box shaped windows stands out from the urban silhouette. And on the inside, the Sheraton Zurich Hotel matches perfectly well with what was promised on the outside: the interiors are modern, the windows reveal the city in completely different panoramas that stretch the city up to the beauty of the surrounding mountains. If you cherish different atmospheres and particularly like streamlined districts, make your reservations at Sheraton Zurich Hotel, one of the best Zurich hotels for you.

The Swissotel Zurich is the tallest business hotel in Zurich. This great 4-star hotel has won its merits due to several reasons, but the first of all is, no doubt, the sights one can enjoy from it. There is no adjective better than 'amazing' that could describe them! Either from the rooms, where they fly you to the city's skyline up to the mountains, or from the spa and infinity pool at 32nd floor where the panoramas will leave you speechless, this hotel is really hard to beat. However, other reasons are at play and justify the Swissotel Zurich to be considered one of the favored in Zurich. The interiors are modern and chic in their pastel tones that contrast with furniture stripped in black and cream. The service is perfect (make sure you enjoy breakfast for the one at the Swissotel Zurich is unbelievable!) and the location is premium, especially if you're fond of business areas (the Swissotel lies opposite Oerlikon train station). Contemporaneity, style and remarkable sights. In other words, the Swissotel Zurich.

The EMA House Hotel Suites is a perfect place to stay at in Zurich, especially if you're traveling with your family. The suites are handsome in their mild 70's atmosphere. Extremely generous in space, they'll surround you in nude tones which will warm you up in the colder season and freshen your senses in the hotter one. The location is fantastic: the beautiful Limmat River is on the other side of the street and the city's centre a mere 10 minutes walk away. Nevertheless, you'll be able to see some of the best of the town from your window... lovable sights of the waters, the Fraumunster and Old Town, remarkable views of the mountains, all will fly into your room with no effort at all. Come in Spring or Summer and discover a town that transforms itself into a water city: allow your children to swim at the river or the Zurich lake, enjoy the outdoor festivals and bars, stroll along the promenades until the sun decides to disappear in the horizon. Or come in winter and amaze your beloved with the pristine beauty of snow. The truth is Zurich is so full of things to do... And to stay close to them all, the EMA House Hotel Suites is undoubtedly one of the best hotel choices you can make.

My goodness, what a lovely hotel! If you adore discreet charming places, those (apparently) so subtle they could easily mimmic the surroundings, opt for Hotel Rossli on your next visit to Zurich. This lovable boutique hotel will seduce you from the very entrance, all the way to your room and beyond. On the outside it seems as you had rented a beautifully restored house in Zurich's Old Town. But then you go in and you encounter a well tasted decoration, full of little details: a little statue here, a design lamp over there, a stylish chair from a famous designer in the opposite corner. The rooms, in their pastel colors, are nothing but pretty nests that display wonderful views of the Limmat river, the mountains or the neighborhood (some even come with a wooden floored balcony that sits right in the middle of tiny streets, utterly beautiful!) Hotel Rossli is also fantastic in terms of location: scarcely 100 m away from the Limmat river banks and 5 minutes (max) to any of Zurich's 'to do's' : Lake Zurich, Grossmunster, Fraumunster... In brief: the best of Old Town in the nicest way. That is what Hotel Rossli is all about.

Why stay in a room if you can pamper yourself in a never ending loft? Spacious hotel rooms' lovers, the Sorell Hotel Rigiblick is the Zurich hotel for you. The location is amazing: it stands right above Zurich's skyline. The facts are you will not be where all the buzz and tourists are; but the great side of it is that you can get there quite easily (just take the Rigiblick cable) while being able to return to the quietness and peace at anytime. The Sorell Hotel Rigiblick offers 45 to 90 square meters' loft-like apartments, all beautifully decorated. The ambiance is minimal, modern, yet ridiculously comfortable; you can easily feel at home. If you are wondering which of the 7 lofts is our favorite, we'll go for the Clariden, with its giant floor-to-ceiling windows. However, all of them offer spectacular views; to opt for one of the lofts to the detriment of another would be quite unfair because your eyes will take you to the mountains, overlooking Zurich's lake along with superb city's panoramas... You know what? Indulge yourself in all this during the day and, at night, try 'At Spice', the fine dining, one Michelin starred restaurant. After all, what can be best than to savor a great meal after savoring Zurich at its best?
