At this rooftop guests are welcome to a buffet breakfast with panoramic views. Cachi Restaurant ensures that great views and interesting food extend to lunch or dinner. Staying at Hotel Ibrahim Pasha is like staying in a local family's Ottoman house in Fatih (Sultanahmet), one of the best areas to stay in Istanbul. Hotel Ibrahim Pasha is near the Blue Mosque, Roman Hippodrome, Obelisk of Theodosius and the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. For us the cherry on top of the cake of Hotel Ibrahim Pasha is its rooftop terrace with mind-boggling views onto Istanbul's Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia minarets and the Bosphorus below. This little-gem hotel is run by Mehmet Umur, an indispensable resource for those looking for advice regarding what to visit and do in Istanbul's Old City. Istanbul with a French touch and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views - this could be a possible way to describe Mama Shelter Istanbul, a project by acclaimed Philippe Starck and Jérémie Trigano. All 81 contemporary rooms at Mama Shelter have balconies or terraces with views over Istanbul. Even if guests staying at Mama Shelter Istanbul will have a great vista from their room, the rooftop terrace with 360º views over Istanbul is unmissable and quite popular with locals (sadly, the rooftop terrace is only opened from May to October). The hotel's location in Istiklal Avenue is ideal for those wishing to stay near several shops and restaurants and only 5-minutes away from Taksim Square.

Mornings at design hotel The House Hotel Galatasaray start in the best way possible: a rich breakfast is served on the hotel's rooftop with welcoming views over Istanbul and Beyoglu streets below - the sight onto Galata Tower is perhaps the highlight. The House Hotel Galatasaray benefits from a strategic location in Istanbul, on a Galatasaray hill, between Iskital Avenue shops and the Bosphorus. The hotel's decoration will take you back to the 19th century - we were quite impressed with the romantic rooms' high-ceilings and elegant chandeliers, among other interesting Turkish details. The hotel has no elevator and the fact that guests only use the stairs gives this property a homely feel. Very good value for money in Istanbul for such a high-quality design hotel.

Vault Karakoy The House Hotel is today one of the best luxury hotels in Istanbul. This boutique hotel, with only 63 rooms, is located near Taksim Square, in Karaköy district, one of Istanbul's hippest areas. An understated luxury experience is what guests staying at Vault Karakoy The House Hotel can expect - the décor reflects this philosophy: beautiful marble columns, subtle artworks and contemporary design elements. The whole luxury ambience takes us back to the memory of ancient Constantinople greatness. Part of the hotel operates in a building that used to be a bank: quite interesting how the bank's vault was incorporated in one of the hotel's areas (we won't spoil the surprise and will let you find out by your own). The rooms at Vault Karakoy The House Hotel are elegant - neutral tones provide a sense of serenity. Corner rooms are the ones we prefer as the views enjoyed from the bathtub are really something. One of the restaurants at Vault Karakoy The House Hotel has also a worth-admiring Istanbul view.
